MatSing Lens Antennas Deployed at FBC Mortgage Stadium to Enable Mobile Connectivity for Fans Ahead of the CURE Bowl

8 December 2023

MatSing, the pioneer and innovator of high-capacity lens antenna technology, today announced the deployment of its multibeam lens antennas at the FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, FL ahead of the 2023 CURE Bowl featuring Appalachian State and University of Miami (Ohio). Home to the UCF Knights, the 44,206 seating capacity open-air stadium is now upgraded to meet the evolving connectivity needs for students, alumni, and others attending games and music events throughout the year.

As carriers look for high sectorization, increased capacity, and maximized spectrum utilization in high traffic venues, they are finding MatSing’s patented multibeam lens antennas ideal for their needs. Over 20 NCAA college football teams, playing in venues ranging from 25K to 100K+ capacity, currently leverage MatSing’s antennas for their 4G LTE and 5G connectivity.

“Connectivity in dense environments like stadiums is a challenge for carriers as they look for improved signal quality and the ability to support a multitude of connected devices with superior upload speed,” said Bo Larsson, the CEO of MatSing. “Staying connected to your friends, whether that be virtually via social media or physically with applications such as Find My Friends, can make or break a gameday experience. As FBC Mortgage Stadium prepares to support the upcoming 2023 Cure Bowl, MatSing lens antennas are the ideal choice to increase capacity. We are pleased to work with the anchor carrier, which is also the neutral-host operator, and the UCF technical team on this new deployment.”

The network at UCF includes five MatSing antennas, with four being the large sphere antennas and one MBA lens panel antenna. The four large sphere antennas are deployed on either side of the field to cover the stadium while the single multiband panel lens antenna is in place to cover the outside and tailgating areas.

About MatSing

Founded in 2005, MatSing has developed and patented new meta-materials to create the world’s first lightweight and multibeam Lens Antennas. This new approach for high-performance, high-capacity antenna design is more efficient and offers key advantages over traditional antennas, the ability to provide broadband coverage, emit and maintain multiple beams, and to do so cleanly with minimal RF interference. Nationwide coverage isn’t the only critical challenge facing telecoms companies, and MatSing’s Lens antenna solution is ideal to meet the capacity demands at outdoor events, stadiums and macro uses in cities, suburbs, and rural areas. Each antenna can provide multiple independent sectors, up to 48, providing the highest capacity across multiple bands with the fewest antennas possible. MatSing lens technology is the perfect fit for 4G LTE and 5G mobile broadband coverage, and it is the most cost-effective network densification tool in the industry.
