Wheeling Island Stadium Repairs to Cost $700,000

25 April 2017

The Ohio County Board of Education this evening voted to pursue a plan that would spend $700,000 to repair concrete panels at Wheeling Island Stadium. The expected completion date is Sept. 15.

This puts the OVAC All-Star game, set for the end of July, out of the equation, Superintendent Kim Miller said. The school district also will have to adjust some boys and girls soccer games as well as practice locations for the football program.

The project’s engineer, M&G Architects and Engineers, submitted a plan that would reinforce all the concrete panels at the stadium. The issue came about after a panel came loose on April 14. That panel was removed on April 17, but as it was being removed an adjacent panel fell.
