6 September 2023

The University of Southern California Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has teamed up with Better for All, a natural products innovator, to launch an exciting partnership for the upcoming Zero Waste Game against Stanford University, scheduled for September 9th at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The game will kick off at 7:30 PM PT and will be broadcast live on FOX Sports.

As part of this partnership, fans attending the game will have the opportunity to enjoy pre-game beverages in Better for All's reusable, renewable, and certified home compostable cups. These cups will be available inside USC's Ultimate Tailgate, located in Trojan Fan Fest, just east of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Better for All's lightweight yet durable cups are made from Kaneka Biopolymers Green Planet PHBH, a material produced by fermenting plant seed oils. These cups are capable of accommodating both hot and cold beverages, are non-toxic, and are fully compostable, offering fans an eco-friendly way to enjoy the game.

USC has a strong commitment to sustainability initiatives, and the university recently earned recognition for its efforts in this regard. USC was named the winner of the Best Fan Engagement sub-category in the Pac-12 Zero Waste Challenge for the 2022 football season. The university achieved an impressive 91.3% diversion rate at the Zero Waste Game against Arizona State, demonstrating its dedication to sustainability. USC is eager to build on this success and continue promoting environmentally conscious practices.

Drew DeHart, Vice President/General Manager of USC Sports Properties and Playfly Sports, expressed the university's pride in partnering with Better for All for the Zero Waste Game. He emphasized the importance of providing a no-waste, game-day experience that aligns with the values of USC's students, fans, and the Trojan community. USC recognizes the influential role that sports venues play in addressing waste and climate change and is committed to using its platform in the sports community to promote sustainable change.
