Sports For All Saudi Federation hosted over 15,000 participants in the 2023 Riyadh Marathon

More than 15,000 competitors from 120 countries took part in the second edition of the Riyadh Marathon. Organized by the Saudi Federation Sports For All (SFA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, the Quality of Life Program, and the Saudi Athletics Federation, the Riyadh Marathon welcomed people of all ages and skill levels to Join the physical activity movement that swept the nation on February 11, 2023.

During the award ceremony, SFA Chairman, HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud presented the prizes to the winners of the 2023 Riyadh Marathon, in the presence of Prince Nawaf bin Mohammed bin Abdullah, Vice President of World Athletics, and Ms. Shaima Saleh Al-Husseini, Chief Executive Officer of the SFA.

The marathon gave community members the opportunity to challenge themselves by choosing from walks/runs of various distances (42 km, 21 km, 10 km and 4 km), and invited people of all abilities, including amateurs and experienced riders to participate.

The three winners in the women's category are from Ethiopia. Meseret Abebayehu Alemu won the women's elite marathon, Aberash Fayesa Robi came second and Gadise Mullu Demissie came third. Representing Morocco, Samir Jouaher won the men's elite marathon, followed by Ethiopian Balew Yihunie Derseh in second place, followed by his compatriot Yemane Tsegay Adhane in third place. Winners who took first place in the men's and women's pro races received a $30,000 prize, while second-place competitors received prizes of $20,000 and third-place finishers walked away with $10,000. .

He added that the event would not have been possible without the strong support of the Quality of Life program.
