Sonowal inaugurates ACA’s Barsapara Stadium

Assam Cricket Association’s Stadium at Barsapara in Guwahati has made its debut on Tuesday by holding the first international T-20 match between India and Australia as Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had inaugurated the stadium.

The state-of-the art stadium has been built at a sprawling 59 bighas of land which has all the modern facilities and tipped to be one of the best in the world.

Sonowal while inaugurating the stadium said that the ACA stadium at Barsapara is the latest addition to the state’s rich repertoire of world class sports infrastructure in the state. He also said that the stadium would lend dynamism to Assam government’s endeavour of making Guwahati as the ‘sports capital of the country’.

He also said that after organising the international events like South Asian Games and the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup, several other international events would also be played in Assam giving a new impetus to the sporting arena of the state.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is also the president of ACA was present at the stadium alongwith host of other dignitaries to witness the beginning of this historic journey. The duo also cut a cake to mark the opening of the Barsapara Stadium.
