Pickleball Station Opens Indoor Pickleball Facility in Kent, WA

5 June 2017

Pickleball Central today announced the opening of Pickleball Station in Kent, WA, a facility that provides pickleball courts open to the public, lessons, and a pro shop for pickleball enthusiasts. The business caters to the tens of thousands of pickleball players throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Pickleball Station’s indoor pickleball courts can be reserved hourly for private court time or enjoyed for drop-in play, clinics, lessons with Pickleball Station’s professional instructors, as well as corporate and team building events. The Pickleball Station pro shop offers a wide selection of popular and exciting new pickleball products including paddles, balls, apparel and more.

The company will host a Grand Opening Celebration and Open House on June 10th, 2017 from 10:00am to 4:00pm which will be attended by Barney McCallum, one of pickleball’s founders. Located at 22330 68th Avenue South, the 18,000-square foot facility features four courts, a large pro shop, the Pickleball Museum, and shares space with its sister company, Pickleball Central.

“It is rather ironic that despite the Puget Sound being the birthplace of Pickleball, there are not any dedicated indoor court facilities in the Seattle Area,” shared David Johnson, President of Pickleball Station. “We recognized the need for pickleball players in the Puget Sound to have access to a dedicated facility where players of any level can get year-round access to courts, obtain quality instruction, and shop for a wide variety of pickleball equipment and apparel. Our solution was to create the Seattle area’s first indoor facility devoted exclusively to pickleball."

Pickleball Station was launched to fill the growing need for quality pickleball courts accessible year-round. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. with over 2,000,000 players, yet until now, the Puget Sound lacked any dedicated indoor public facilities. For most players, the only option is to play at parks and mixed use community centers where there are players of all levels playing at the same time. A challenge with mixed use facilities is that they have lines painted on the floors for as many as five different sports, making the playing experience more difficult and less enjoyable. They also don’t have playing surfaces optimized for pickleball, and sometimes lack adequate perimeters for higher end play. Another limitation with mixed use facilities is their limited hours of availability to pickleball. The few outdoor facilities around Seattle are difficult to use during the long regional rainy seasons. Pickleball Station addresses these problems by providing state-of-the-art dedicated indoor courts that are open year round. Players will be able to easily reserve courts online for any hours between 7:00am and 10:00pm seven days a week.

Beginners, intermediate and advanced players will all benefit from the high quality of lesson programs provided by Pickleball Station’s professional instructors. Players can arrange private, semi-private or group lessons, and a variety of clinics will be regularly offered.

As the world’s largest independent seller of pickleball equipment, Pickleball Central equips Pickleball Station’s pro shop and provides pickleball enthusiasts with the ability to browse the widest selection of pickleball products available in the Pacific Northwest. Customers can demo paddles on the Pickleball Station courts, try on apparel, and shop for hundreds of other pickleball accessories.
