Developer Chris Hansen is now offering to build the proposed sports arena in Seattle's Sodo District with 100-percent private financing.

The amended proposal, outlined in a letter presented to city leaders, means the government wouldn't have to borrow 200-million-dollars to help cover the cost of building the arena.

Hansen and his partners are also offering to build a new Lander Street overpass and are asking the Seattle City Council to approve vacating Occidental Street near the arena site.

Hansen says the economic climate has become more favorable to private financing for the arena project.
