Jackson Christian to Host Second Annual West Tennessee Small Band Championship Presented by Bramblett Group

The Jackson Christian Eagle Marching Band is excited to announce the second annual West Tennessee Small Band Championship, taking place on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The event will kick off with the Jackson Christian Choir performing the National Anthem at 4:45 p.m. at Jackson Christian's Southern Capital Field, located at Ronnie Fowler Stadium. Admission will be $10, and concessions will be available for purchase. Bramblett Group, a marketing, advertising, and public relations firm, is the presenting sponsor for the championship.

Dr. Billy Lones, President of Jackson Christian, expressed his enthusiasm for celebrating the dedication and achievements of band students, stating, "We believe in the value of the arts in helping students develop their unique gifts, leadership and teamwork skills, and Jackson Christian is honored to host hundreds of students and families from the region."

The West Tennessee Small Band Championship was established to highlight small bands with fewer than 50 members. This year's championship will feature 19 bands in the following order of preferred names:

  2. Riverside High School
  3. Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Marching Tigers
  4. Halls High School
  5. Dyersburg High School - The Mighty Trojan Marching Band
  6. Covington Charger Marching High School Band
  7. McKenzie Marching Rebels
  8. Lewis County High School
  9. South Side High School Marching Hawks
  10. Camden Central High School Marching Band
  11. Huntingdon High School
  12. Liberty Creek High School
  13. Scotts Hill High School
  14. Crockett County Marching Cavaliers
  15. Waverly Central Tiger Marching Pride
  16. McEwen High School - The Pride of McEwen Marching Warriors
  17. Fairview High School - The Sound of Gold Band and Color Guard
  18. First Assembly Christian School
  19. Lexington High School - The Pride of Lexington

Following the performances by the guest bands, the Jackson Christian Eagle Marching Band will perform in exhibition. The evening will conclude with a mass band performance, featuring members from all 20 bands, with over 350 participants, performing "Tennessee Waltz."

Destiny Holt Hall, Director of the Jackson Christian Eagle Marching Band and the West Tennessee Small Band Championship, expressed her excitement for the event: "After such a successful inaugural year last year, we're thrilled to have even more bands meeting in Jackson. Parents, family members, and fans will come together to cheer for these students, who have been working tirelessly perfecting their shows for months!"

The competition has received generous support from various sponsors, including Amro Music, Anita's Travel Agency, Beard Triple H Farms, and many more. Proceeds from the competition will benefit the Jackson Christian Eagle Marching Band.
