Fayetteville Woodpeckers SEGRA Stadium nears completion

Friday, Mar 08, 2019

A little more than a month before their first game, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers' SEGRA Stadium is nearing completion.

Stadium seats are going in this week as gray sand is being spread for the infield and outfield grass.

Irrigation pipes were being laid Thursday ahead of the turf being delivered.

Turf will arrive in a couple of weeks from Georgia from the same company that supplies turf for the Atlanta Falcons.

The largest digital video board in the Big South Conference, 75-feet wide, now sits in the outfield.

Concession stands are under construction - all ahead of an April 13 ribbon-cutting.

The $40 million stadium will hold 5,290 fans.

The Woodpeckers first game is April 18 against Carolina.
