In a matter of days Downtown’s new Banc of California Stadium will officially open to eager soccer fans ready to cheer on the LA Football Club from inside the state-of-the-art facility. But just next door there is still construction going on for an attached multi-story retail space meant to enhance the all-day experience for sports fans and concert-goers, and inside will be a large new chef-driven food hall filled with dining options both new and familiar.

Nearly everyone on the LAFC side is being coy about what specifically is happening with the food hall, but there are a few details out in the world right now. For example, this industry landing page for concert and festival promoters promises “premium amenities and hospitality spaces,” and calls the dining option an “international food hall.” There will also be rooftop lounge areas and bar space. The folks at Urbanize even have an in-construction shot of the food hall and attached courtyard now.

On the food side, stadium hospitality company Legends is still overseeing the day to day operations of all the cooking that will happen for the food hall and the stadium. So, as is often the case with stadiums and airports nationally and abroad, Legends will handle the day-of work while restaurants like Chicas, Beer Belly, and Bludso’s add their name to the signage and their recipes to the menus.

The other participant is Cast Iron Partners, a Los Angeles-based group helmed by Carl Schuster, longtime CEO of Wolfgang Puck Catering. They, along with project partner Bill Chait, are helping to sign on tenants and execute the deals that will bring the food hall to life. So far there are no confirmed tenants, but Eater has heard plenty of rumors about what local names could become part of the equation.

Just don’t expect anything from this Banc of California Stadium food hall any time soon. The property won’t be completed until the end of summer, though the stadium itself hosts its first home game on April 29.
