Arena Sports and Entertainment Breaks Ground on New Sports Complex and Family Entertainment Center

13 April 2017

The party is just getting started in Mill Creek as Arena Sports, the largest indoor sports company in Washington state, today announced it is breaking ground on its biggest and most substantial location to date. The 98,000 square-foot facility, which will be called Arena Sports and Entertainment, will feature the company’s signature indoor soccer and futsal fields and programming as well as a full-service family entertainment center that will include bowling (mini and full-size lanes), a multi-floor laser tag arena, rock climbing tower, two-story indoor ropes course, inflatable FunZone, and more than 100 arcade games. The expansive facility, which is expected to open in October 2017, will bring a premier party and event destination and sporting facility to the area.

“The anticipation and excitement for indoor soccer and family entertainment in north Puget Sound has been incredible,” said Don Crowe, CEO of Arena Sports. “We anticipate attracting customers from a pretty large footprint as people are willing to travel further for a premier party location. And we know demand is significant in the area for indoor soccer activities for both adults and kids.”

With the inclusion of the family entertainment center activities, the company expects special events and parties to represent up to 50 percent of its business at the Mill Creek location. To accommodate the expected demand, there will be a sizable party area, corporate meeting space, on-site pizza restaurant, and multiple customizable party packages.

With four other Puget Sound locations, Arena Sports is known for its popular indoor soccer programming, including leagues for youth and adult players. The company is inspiring the next generation of soccer enthusiasts with its Lil’ Kickers and Skills Institute developmental soccer programs for kids ages 18 months to 12 years.

MG2, one of the largest architecture firms in the nation and one of the top retail design firms in the world, is designing the new facility. MG2 is known for creating connected experiences for brands, destinations, buildings and most importantly, the people who enjoy them.

“We’re honored to unveil the design direction and vision for the new Arena Sports location,” says MG2 CEO Mitch Smith. “The building is designed to be a soccer-first facility, while also providing a lively ‘off the field’ experience for guests. In that way, the space becomes a year-round destination both for sports and entertainment.”

“City leaders are committed to building a strong, family-friendly community with its goal of supporting diverse recreational opportunities and creating options for families and neighbors to get out and have fun together,” said Crowe. “We believe Arena Sports and Entertainment will be the perfect complement to the community and a hub for family fun.”

“This groundbreaking is an exciting step forward for the City of Mill Creek’s tourism efforts, which go hand-in-hand with strategic economic development,” said City Manager Rebecca Polizzotto. “The Arena Sports facility is a significant community amenity that will serve our residents and will attract people from the surrounding area to Mill Creek. When people come to play, and compete, they are more likely to visit local shops and restaurants, benefiting the local economy.”

Arena Sports and Entertainment will be located near Henry M. Jackson High School at the intersection of Dumas Road and Bothell-Everett Highway. An Information Center will be open to the public in Gateway Shopping Center, located adjacent to the property.
