Allstate Debuts Coaching Mural to Develop Youth Soccer Players

Chicago's west side is now home to a captivating 25-foot interactive art installation, courtesy of Allstate in collaboration with the U.S. Soccer Federation. This art piece serves as a dynamic soccer coaching tool for aspiring youth players.

In partnership with Black Star, an organization dedicated to promoting soccer within Black American communities, and local nonprofit Intentional Sports, this initiative has resulted in the creation of an outdoor training space specifically designed for young soccer enthusiasts. The Coaching Mural is an innovative instructional art installation that provides guidance on various soccer drills and techniques, including shooting, passing, and proper foot positioning.

Crystal Dunn, a member of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (USWNT) and a board member of the Black Women's Player Collective, expressed her passion for passing on the love of soccer to the next generation. She highlighted the importance of making the game more accessible to young players and diversifying it for generations to come. Dunn, along with fellow USWNT members Naomi Girma and Lynn Williams, provided creative direction for the artwork.

The artist behind this project is Dwight White II, a Chicago-based artist with a unique perspective combining fine art, sociology, and experiential design.

Allstate, in collaboration with Black Star, embarked on this endeavor with the aim of democratizing soccer training for youth. The project aligns with U.S. Soccer's strategic goal to Foster the Best Playing Environments, emphasizing accessibility, removing barriers to entry, and providing safe and inclusive spaces for all participants.

The coaching mural has found a home at Intentional Sports, a Chicago-based nonprofit that operates a soccer recreation facility on the west side of the city. This facility will not only serve as the backdrop for the mural but also host community soccer events in the future.

Allstate has also demonstrated its commitment to the cause by making a $25,000 donation to Intentional Sports. This financial support will contribute to the ongoing growth of the organization and its facilities, expanding soccer and futsal programs to serve the local community year-round.

Dan Keats, Director of Consumer Marketing at Allstate, emphasized the company's dedication to nurturing young soccer talent by investing in resources that facilitate skill development and easier access to coaching. The mural represents Allstate's commitment to the future of the sport and its young players.
