Construction of Sir Hubert Murray Stadium to be Completed

Construction work and the completing of the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium will continue soon.The national government hopes the Stadium can be completed by the end of the year.

The Stadium has an outstanding of about K40 million, in which to complete the stadium. The construction of the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium was a Private Public Partnership with Curtain Brothers.

With the project to continue, the government is seeking sponsorship and funding from private and cooperate sectors to help finish off the stadium under a tax credit scheme.

Once the stadium is complete, it will be the biggest Stadium in Papua New Guinea, and in the region, with a seating capacity of 20,000.

It will be a multipurpose field which will be used for football, Rugby League and Rugby Union. Appropriate fencing will be built around the stadium with the availability of car park space and the inclusion of restaurants and cafés in the stadium.

Once completed, the Hubert Murray Stadium will be a commercial entity, where they will have to generate revenue to maintain the facilities.
