Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment to host grand re-opening of BMO Field

8 May 2015

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning to usher in the grand re-opening of BMO Field.

The event will include speeches by MLSE chairman, Larry Tanenbaum, MLSE president and CEO Tim Leiweke and City officials.

Last September, BMO Field underwent Phase One of a $120 million expansion that included the addition of 8,400 seats, new washrooms and concession stands, a full HD video board, upgraded suites and clubs.

Phase Two will begin later this fall and includes the addition of a canopy covering the stadium’s grandstands, a state of the art lighting and sound system and reinforced turf upgrade.

The expansion project has been met with delays and budget overruns.

Toronto FC is also scheduled to hold their first on-field practice today. The team plays their first home game on Saturday.

The MLS team was forced to play their first seven matches on the road rather than playing a home match at a different venue.
