Introduction:

Venice has officially kicked off construction of its new stadium with a ceremonial groundbreaking. Designed by Populous and engineered by Maffeis Engineering, the venue is set to become a state-of-the-art hub for sports and major live events in the city.

Features:

The 18,500-seat stadium will be located in the Bosco dello Sport area, a 116-hectare multifunctional sports hub north of Venice. It is approved to host Serie A football matches, rugby games, and large-scale live events, including concerts.

Construction has been commissioned to a consortium comprising Costruzioni Bordignon, Fincantieri Infrastrutture, and Ranzato Impianti, following the awarding of the contract in March 2024. The stadium successfully passed its official validation phase in September 2024.

Set within the natural landscape of Bosco dello Sport, the stadium aims to offer an innovative fan experience and become a key sports landmark for both local and international communities. Its façade features vertical elements inspired by the rhythm of Venice’s historic palaces, creating a sense of lightness and transparency, while allowing glimpses into the stadium bowl from the outside.
