Members of MCC have approved plans to redevelop the Tavern and Allen stands at Lord’s.

Features:

The £61.8 million project, presented to the Club’s 18,000 members at last week’s AGM, will enhance catering, hospitality, and accessibility while adding 1,100 seats to the ground’s capacity.

The redevelopment will add an additional tier to both stands. For the Allen stand, this will involve relocating the scoreboard. In the Tavern stand, a new cantilevered fourth-floor seating level will be introduced above the existing structure, which will be extended to the site boundary.

The Tavern stand’s distinctive roof design, crafted by architects WilkinsonEyre, is inspired by the shape and ribbed structure of traditional slip cradles and continues Lord’s tradition of innovative architecture.

The new stands are expected to be completed by 2027, with construction pauses scheduled during the 2025 and 2026 cricket seasons.
