Raymond James Stadium will be turned into a golf course

4 April 2017

Imagine teeing off from the upper level at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. That's exactly what Stadiumlinks plans to let people do for a limited time.

The events company announced it will set up multiple tee boxes in the stadium from June 2 to 4, allowing golfers to shoot for nine different holes created on the field hundreds of feet below.

There's no short game involved. Players generate a score based on how close they get to the flag for each hole with their drive, similar to the scoring at Topgolf. Various painted rings will designate whether a shot is a birdie, par or a bogey.

"Shank a ball into the stands and it will go down as the most memorable double bogey of your life," an announcement on the Raymond James Stadium website reads.

Stadiumlinks debuted its unique golfing experience in 2016, and has so far transformed Turner Field in Atlanta, the Texas Rangers' Globe Life Park and the Kansas City Chief's Arrowhead Stadium into temporary driving ranges. That came after the San Diego Padres teamed with Callaway golf clubs to turn Petco Park into a par-3 golf course in late 2015.

The tee boxes at RayJay will accommodate groups of two to four people. There will also be a separate chipping and putting challenge with prizes.

Stadiumlinks hasn't started registering people for the event yet, but it is accepting sign-ups on a waiting list here. Those who sign up will be contacted via email on April 11 with an offer to reserve a tee time, a Stadiumlinks spokesperson said.

Prices will start at $75 per person, with options for upgraded VIP experiences. The event should should look something like the video below from Globe Life Park.
