Finley Stadium is getting a new playing surface.

The old artificial turf started coming out on Monday.

Stadium director Paul Smith says it's time to replace the old turf, which has been down over ten years.

The new turf will cost over $500,000, and it should be installed in time for the Mocs spring game at Finley Stadium on April 18th.

Smith says the players should enjoy the new field.

"The new Astro Turf, 3-D Extreme doesn't have as long of a strand, and it has a thatch built-in, so it avoids that little black cloud of dirt when you make a cut or a tackle on a turf field."
