19 July 2016

Mandan's developing sports complex has met its projected budget.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/29PFO02 ) that officials on Friday awarded an $11 million bid package for the third and final phase of the project, meaning the complex will cost the expected $23.3 million.

A special sales tax will cover $22 million of the cost. The Mandan Hockey Club is contributing $1 million, and the Mandan Park District is contributing $300,000 for an on-site maintenance shop.

The complex is scheduled to be ready for use by the fall of 2017. It will have a football field, a two-rink hockey area, a gymnastics facility, an outdoor track and field, and nearly 500 parking spaces. The project also includes converting the existing Faris Field from football and track to ball diamonds.
