It’s time to celebrate!

Thursday is the grand-opening event of the Lantana Sports Park.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at 903 N. Eighth St.

Light refreshments will be served.

The $3.5 million sports complex came about when the Water Tower Commons retail and residential project started. The town had sports fields in front of the A.G. Holley State Hospital location. Lantana Development LLC, which bought the hospital land, paid $2.5 million to the town to move the baseball fields. The town used that money and $1 million from the state to build the complex.
