A large indoor sports complex, featuring a soccer field, volleyball courts, sports medicine clinic and other facilities, is being proposed for Jackson.
The 188,000-square-foot building would be developed east of Highway P and north of Hasmer Lake, according to the conceptual plans filed with the village. The Plan Commission will conduct an initial review at its Thursday night meeting.
The sports complex would include 10 volleyball courts, five basketball courts, batting cages, a golf hitting area, a 12,900-square-foot fitness center, an 11,400-square-foot sports medicine clinic and 10,400 square feet of retail space, the proposal said.
It also would have a full-size soccer pitch.
The building would be developed by Wisconsin Sportscomplex LLC., a local investors group, said Phil Dahlberg, a Jackson attorney and group member.
The sports facility would use part of a 45-acre development site, Dahlberg said Wednesday.
Other parts of that larger site could eventually include a four-story hotel, a restaurant, a bank, retail space, offices and senior housing, according to the proposal.
The site is about a half-mile from the northwest corner of the Highway 45/Highway 60 interchange.
Dahlberg said there is demand for a multiuse indoor sports facility in the Jackson area. His group is working on developing partnerships with area sports clubs in connection with the proposal.
