BHS Stadium Renovations In Full Swing

31 March 2016

Renovations are underway at Bakersfield High School's historic stadium.

Kern High School District officials said construction began in January to replace the sod football field where the Drillers play.

KHSD employee Jack Colvard said Wednesday that it's a $19.8 million project that will be completed in August 2017.

"Everyone's excited about it," said Colvard. "The community and the students are thrilled, and the staff is elated."

Colvard said the renovations include upgrades to the track and changes around the western side of the facility.

KHSD officials said it's not determined where the Drillers will play their home games next season.
