A major sports stadium will be built at Kitchener Park in Subiaco. The stadium will replace Subiaco Oval. The stadium is to have a capacity to seat 60,000 people and have the potential to expand to 70,000 seats. It will be a multi-purpose outdoor stadium and will cater to AFL, rugby, soccer, cricket and major events such as concerts.The development cost of $1.1billion includes $800million stadium and about $300million in associated infrastructure,transport infrastructure, property aquisition, escalation, and other costs. The planning phase will include resumption of land and relocation of affected residents, upgrading road and rail infrastructure and appointment of construction contractors.
