The World Surf League (WSL) today announced the launch of its first official apparel line. The line features a complete selection of jerseys for the top men and women competing in this year’s Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour, as well as WSL branded apparel for men, women, and kids with items ranging from hoodies and long-sleeve tees to t-shirts, tank tops and accessories. They will be available online exclusively at www.wslstore.com.

As competitive surfing celebrates its 40th anniversary, the WSL continues to showcase the world’s best surfers by bringing fans to the most remote and exotic locations on the planet. With its free downloadable app, “It’s On!” personalized alerts, and world-class digital broadcasts that put fans right in the field of play, the WSL is committed to making it effortless for fans around the world to follow the excitement year round.

“We have some of the most passionate fans in the world and they love to show their support for their favorite surfers and their home countries. The new WSL athlete jerseys give fans a fun way to do both,” said Scott Hargrove, chief marketing officer for the World Surf League. “We can’t wait to expand on our successful test at the Gold Coast and bring this to fans around the world.”

A select number of athlete jerseys were unveiled at the Quiksilver/Roxy Pro Gold Coast, the first stops of the 2016 Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour, where jerseys for Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Julian Wilson, Steph Gilmore, and others quickly sold out. In addition to the full line of athlete jerseys now available at wslstore.com, in the coming weeks, fans will be able to customize their own jerseys and purchase merchandise from Championship Tour events including the Drug Awareness Margaret River Pro and the Oi Rio Pro.

The launch is being supported via social media and a :15 spot that will air during the broadcast coverage of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. The spot features fans of all ages proclaiming to be Mick Fanning, as they proudly wear his iconic #7 jersey.

“Fans getting to wear the athlete jerseys is really cool,” said Tyler Wright, the WSL’s current No. 1 ranked female surfer. “It’s something we’ve talked about for a few years and to start this season and see a bunch of fans wearing the jerseys and supporting the athletes is a great experience.”
