MuscleSound, a rapidly growing startup leveraging glycogen testing to detect and prevent soft-tissue muscle injuries across a variety of industries, today announced significant momentum in the NCAA. Approximately 10 total colleges, with new customers including Oregon State, the University of Colorado and the University of South Carolina, use MuscleSound to instantly measure and analyze nutrition-dependent glycogen.
MuscleSound has experienced over 850% growth in the usage of its patented SaaS system by college athletes alone during the first quarter of 2015 versus the same period last year.

Athletes’ fueling and recovery needs change throughout the season. By measuring glycogen, the body’s primary energy source during periods of high-energy exertion, MuscleSound enables teams to monitor and iterate nutritional needs over time. After taking an ultrasound scan of a muscle, MuscleSound sends the image to its cloud-based software, which generates results in about 15 seconds. Team leaders gain insight into the effects of current feeding regimens, injury prevention, recovery times and performance levels. Teams that currently leverage MuscleSound include the Colorado Rockies, Dallas Mavericks, NCAA teams, global Olympic teams and soccer clubs in the United Kingdom.
