Youth Baseball Ground broken on new Loves Park training facility

11 February 2015

A local real estate developer kicked off construction at a new sports training facility Monday in Loves Park.

Chad Encheff of C&E Group announced the beginning of construction for a new indoor training facility for Bison Baseball, an Illinois traveling youth baseball team.

The facility, located at 7155 Windsor Lake Parkway in Loves Park, will also be open for public use.

State Representative Joe Sosnowski and Bison Sports, Inc. founder Kelly Robinson joined Encheff and partner Kurt Carlson at the ground breaking ceremony to voice their support for the new project.

“We’re excited to start the construction of this training facility which I think will attract a good amount of local athletes,” said Encheff. “The facility itself will have plenty of room and equipment for anyone looking to improve their skills in softball or baseball. We plan on teaching as well as having fun at the same time.”

The 16,000 square foot building includes 9,600 square feet of turf that can be divided into tunnels for athletes to work on pitching, catching or other types of fielding skills for baseball or softball.

Athletes training at the facility will also be able to utilize several of Bison Sports’ batting cages.

A retail shop for equipment, jersey ordering and jersey customization is also under construction in the same building.

The anticipated date for completion of the facility is March 1 with public opening in April.

Several local youth baseball teams, including Bison Baseball, will train at the facility before April’s public opening.

C&E Group was responsible for construction of the Carlson Ice Arena and the home of the Rockford Aviators, Road Ranger Stadium.
