Tee-ball field at Dick Klenhard Sports Complex receives upgradation

17 February 2015

Improvements being made to the Tee-ball field at the Dick Klenhard Youth Sports Complex on East Gum Avenue are a joint effort. The contributing parties are City of Woodland Parks and Recreation Department, Woodland Cal Ripken Youth Baseball and the “Friends of Cal Ripken” group.

The first step was to lay out the field and then move the sprinkler heads to the appropriate locations, according to Brian Wickstrom.
Next will be removal of the sod and installation of baseball mix soil, Wickstrom said, and a backstop is currently being designed for the site.

Long-term plans include installation of foul ball fencing along the first and third base lines, as well as the benches for the players.
