Roma deposit stadium plan

31 May 2016

Roma have deposited the final project of the property stadium with the Lazio Region, as officially confirmed by the authorities.

The Giallorossi have faced numerous set-backs and difficulties in their attempts to build a stadium of their own, but they have reached the point where the plan is officially registered with the region.

The project now passes in the hands of the regional authorities, who must approve the last phase before it can kick off.

The Lazio Region communicated this officially in a rather complicated Press release, which illustrates the levels of bureaucracy behind the process.

“Today the Lazio Region received a printed copy of the final project for the 'Stadio della Roma',” reads the statement. “At the same time, an identical copy was deposited at the Capitol Hill.

“In accordance with the communication of August 5, 2015, in which the proposing subject [i.e. Roma] was asked for clarifications and integrations to be provided for the communal offices, the Lazio Region now awaits the 'public interest' to be confirmed by Roma Capitale [another administrative body] to start – as per the normative protocols – the service conference, in which we shall provide full and transparent publicity for every part of the administrative process.

“Furthermore, and as communicated in the last few months, the appropriate office [for the stadium project] has already been set up with the regional direction, which is responsible for the procedure.”
