Regents approve $5 million video board upgrade for stadium renovation project

28 October 2015

The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved the $5 million purchase of new video boards for Owen Field Tuesday. When it is installed in August, the display atop the south end zone is expected to be the second largest in a college football stadium, behind Auburn.

The new video board will measure 7,806 square feet and rise about 12 feet taller than the one OU installed before the 2008 season.

The board approved $4.18 million for its purchase from Daktronics Inc. It also approved $447,500 for a 390-square-foot video board that will be installed in the Switzer Center’s new strength and conditioning center.

The purchases are part of the $160 million in renovations to the stadium’s south end. The construction projects began over the summer and are expected to be complete by the start of the 2016 season.
