Nissan Teases look of Next GT-R Sports Car

18 March 2016

We're just a week away from the press preview days of the 2016 New York International Auto Show, and Nissan released a darkened picture of one of two vehicles it plans on showing at the event. The photo shows the hindquarters of the new GT-R sports car, "Godzilla" as it's informally known, that's set to debut March 23.

The latest model of the GT-R, known as the R35 by enthusiasts and Nissan's internal naming convention, has been in production since 2007, receiving only a mild face-lift in 2011. It's still a favorite of car enthusiasts everywhere, delivering amazing performance in a package that's surprisingly comfortable and usable.

Made to be Japan's answer to the Porsche 911, it has kept pace with the performance of the Porsche but not with the German coupe's technology. While details are scant on the new GT-R just now, everyone is expecting a lighter, more technologically advanced car, with styling that follows some of Nissan's more recent show cars. Stay tuned for the big reveal next week.
