The Levelland-Oxy Sports Complex will have a grand opening Saturday at 1201 Equalizer Road.

The city of Levelland, Levelland Community Development Corporation and Occidental Petroleum Corporation are hosting the ceremony. The complex will open at 10 a.m., and the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

Atmos Energy will be serving a hot-style lunch, and local leagues such as Levelland Babe Ruth Fast Pitch Softball will host baseball and softball games. The event is free of charge to attend.

In May 2010, Levelland voters approved a Type B economic development sales tax to build a multi-purpose sports complex. The $5.6 million facility will accommodate softball games for any age, 12-year-old baseball play and any age soccer. Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc. designed the sports complex, and Lee Lewis Construction served as the construction manager.
