When Glenn's Sporting Goods moved to its new location at the corner of 3rd Avenue and 11th Street on the east side of the Mack and Dave's building in January, it put two of Huntington's largest and oldest businesses in the same building.
Now Glenn's will commemorate its move with a grand opening at noon on Friday, March 6, at its new location, 1040 3rd Ave. in downtown Huntington. Susie Agee, general manager of Glenn's, said Huntington Mayor Steve Williams is expected to be at the event.
Glenn's new location has more than 10,000 square feet of new retail space and combines all aspects of the business - retail, team and federal government operations - under one roof.
Agee said Glenn's diversification and membership in national buying group Sports Inc. has allowed the business to grow and succeed in a retail environment that is continually changing.
Glenn's had six employees when it opened in 1970 in downtown Huntington and has now grown to employ 47 people and operate with more than 40,000 square feet of retail, lettering and stock space.
