Glendale To Vote On Arena Deal

27 April 2016

City council members are expected to vote on a new arena deal with AEG Facilities, a company based out of Los Angeles, at a council meeting Tuesday night.

A deal is needed to keep the Coyotes in Glendale, or the team could move.

One option would be the Phoenix. Mayor Greg Stanton proposed a new arena in Phoenix to be the new home for the hockey team.

Some of the features of the deal include the city of Glendale's financial commitment of $5.6 million per year for five years.

Keeping the Coyotes beyond the 2016-2017 season would be up to AEG Facilities.

If passed, the deal would make AEG Facilities the operator of the Gila River Arena 90 days after the contract is signed.

Critics of the new deal are expected to speak at Tuesday night's city council meeting.
