Charlotte Catholic unveils Keffer Stadium upgrades

7 May 2015

Charlotte Catholic High School unveiled several upgrades to Keffer Stadium Wednesday, including a brand-new parking deck, press box, as well as additional seats.

Charlotte Catholic added over 900 seats to the stadium, meeting the NCHSAA requirement to have a seating capacity of 4,000 seats. Of those seats, 420 will be on the home side, while 455 will be provided to visiting fans. The school added seats along the endzone facing the school, allowing students, cheerleaders, and the band to be located together in the stadium.

Another upgrade that pleased head football coach Mike Brodowicz is the addition of new lighting.

“I was here for a lacrosse game, and our maintenance guy told me ‘The field looks so different,’ and I didn’t believe him. But you come out here and look, and it’s so much better. You don’t really think of it being poorly lit, but we used to just have 8 lights on each pole, so we only had 32 lights total. We doubled the number of lights on each pole, plus they’re newer technology. It’s just fantastic.”

The new press box at the stadium features large glass panels that provide an uninterrupted view of the field at a higher elevation. The school upgraded its audio system in the stadium as well, giving fans in attendance an even better experience for home games.

With the addition of the new parking deck behind the stadium, the home side concourse was widened to allow for easier access to concessions and merchandise stands. A new concession stand was constructed on the far end of the stadium, allowing home fans the choice between locations, thus shortening wait times. The parking deck will have a capacity of 672 parking spaces, primarily for faculty and students.
