Auburn adding over 800 seats to softball stadium

Auburn is adding seats to accommodate the surge in demand and interest following the softball team's first ever trip to the Women's College World Series.

There will be 821 new seats added to Jane B. Moore Field, Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs told AL.com.

Auburn coach Clint Myers said there will be approximately 600 seats added down the first-base line and 300 down the third-base line with work expected to start around Dec. 1.

Auburn installed temporary risers for the home series with Alabama, drawing 2,006 fans for the finale on April 18. Tickets sold out for the NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds with standing room only crowds of at least 1,700 for the final four games.

Myers said there will be additional amenities added and changes coming besides seats, including more concessions and restrooms to accommodate the increased capacity, which is currently listed at 1,500.

"We're reconfiguring the front of the stadium," Myers said. "All the fencing line is coming to come down and it will border. We'll have a great big grassy area for kids to play. We'll have an area for two food trucks."
