Granules - Multitalented and flexible colored EPDM granules:

Synthetic rubber granules get their unique product qualities through composition of their properties. These granules come from raw materials that undergo a constant process of development in test laboratory. Only the best raw materials that meet the standards go into products, i.e. long-lasting wear-resistance, all-weather and UV-resistant properties.

Melos GmbH ® EPDM granules offers 24 standard color granules. Special colors are available as per request. The unique quality and unlimited creative freedom in application is combined to offer an extremely broad spectrum. Special hardness’s and grain sizes are also manufactured for individual and application-specific projects.

Granules Applications:

Melos GmbH ® EPDM granules are used for floor coverings in sports facilities, also in other fields. With their permanent elasticity, skid-resistant and weather proof properties, Melos GmbH floor coverings offer a high degree of safety for sports and leisure activities. It also offers a range of different grain sizes for different installation types, such as infill procedures or spray coating.

Melos GmbH ® EPDM granules are applied in  Tennis courts & sports fields  Playgrounds & safety tiles,  as Synthetic turf and  Special applications like  the colored EPDM granules from Melos GmbH can  be used to create a variety of commercial flooring for offices, public buildings, fitness studios, impressive entrance and reception areas, hospitals, trade fair stands, showrooms and other areas.

Cable Compounds - High-Grade Compounds for the Cable Industry:

Melos GmbH ’s manufacture cable compounds for the wire and cable industry which have been successfully used around the world for the widest possible range of cable constructions. Melos GmbH produces a large proportion of the 20,000 metric tons of cable compounds produced every year which are elastomer-based cable bedding / filling compounds.

Melos GmbH being one of the leading manufacturers of halogen-free cable compounds develops formulations for compounds in the following individual application areas within the wire and cable industry:

• High voltage
• Medium voltage
• Low voltage / Installation cables
• Special compounds: peroxide and silane cross linkable

Cable compounds manufactured by Melos GmbH are made to customer-specific formulations in order to provide the hardness, handling viscosity and filler level required by the cable construction and the special features of the extrusion line. Various raw materials are used depending on the intended field of use: EPR (EPDM), butyl, polyolefines.

These cable compounds fulfill country-specific and customer-specific specifications such as BS (6724, 7870) , DIN/VDE, etc.. For numerous different combinations of materials, Melos GmbH offers Flame-retardant and non-flame-retardant halogen free bedding compounds for the cable and wire industry.

Thermoplastic Elastomers:

Thermoplastic Elastomers are easier to process than cross linked Elastomers in injection molding and extrusion processes, guaranteeing shorter cycle times and faster changeovers.  Melos GmbH offers a wide range of standard TPE compounds.

Thermoplastic Recyclates - Individual material, flexible manufacturing:

Melos GmbH manufactures recyclates from agglomerate or regrind in a modern twin-screw extruder plant equipped with melt filters and underwater granulation. They have a production process, with four gravimetric feeder scales provides the flexibility to add a wide variety of additives – such as pigments (master batches), fillers, reinforcing agents and modifiers.  Melos GmbH produces customized regranulates with reproductible material properties and consistently high material quality.

Plastics manufactured from recyclates include PP (polypropylene), PO (polyolefin blends) and HDPE (high-density polyethylene).

Some of the Material Properties are:

• Melt flow index: up to 30g/10min (for PP)
• Filler content: up to 40% (mineral fillers such as chalk and talc)
