SYNTHETIC TURF AND REINFORCED NATURAL GRASS (XTRAGRASS™) SOLUTIONS

Products for synthetic football turf have not changed a lot over the past decades. Even the 'new generation' of rubber-filled football turf was invented more than 20 years ago. Products were sold based on, for example, fiber thickness (microns), fiber weight (Dtex), pile height (mm). Or as a monofilament against a slit film, fibrillated yarn. Or as a polyethylene fiber against a nylon fiber. Still the synthetic turf market is dominated by carpet manufacturers and fiber suppliers who are trying to sell a football turf system based on a single fact like fiber thickness or pile height.

We have invested in all testing equipment used by accredited laboratories to carry out tests and research for FIFA, UEFA and National Football Associations. Moreover, we are able to show what influences the different components of a football turf system have to the requirements which are really important to the football players like ball roll, ball bounce, friction, sliding resistance, hardness, shock absorption, etc. Special equipment to simulate play and use will also give a very good view of how systems will behave over a longer period of time.

XTRAGRASS™: COMBINED NATURAL AND SYNTHETIC SPORT SURFACE

XtraGrass™ is a unique, patented system in which natural grass grows through a specially woven synthetic turf fabric. The integration of the best performance characteristics from both natural and synthetic turf provides a higher quality, year-round playing surface designed for heavily used stadiums, practice and recreational facilities.

The synthetic turf fibres have a natural turf appearance and protect the grass plants and root zones. The reinforcement of the sandy top layer of natural turf will keep the surface even and stable during intensive use and bad weather conditions.

The synthetic turf fibres are woven into a partially biodegradable backing, which creates a grid of large uniform voids through which plant roots grow and moisture and nutrients flow. The open structure and the strong monofilaments fibres in the fabric will allow all normal maintenance, even verti-draining.

SYNTHETIC TURF FIBRES: INSTALLATION AND TESTING

XtraGrass™ can be installed with local top layers and sub-base constructions, including those with shock absorbing materials. It can also be grown in a sod for easy and fast replacement.

XtraGrass™ was tested and is under testing by accredited testing institutes like STRI in England, ISA in the Netherlands and Labosport in France. Results show that XtraGrass™ meets the standards set for international football as a synthetic turf only.
